If you go to church, why do you? If you don't, why not? Why should someone go to church? What does the church do for the individual? What has and does church do for you personally? What should it do? How should it function? Is it functioning the way God wants it to function? What advice would you give to a Christian considering quitting the church, Christianity and faith in God? Why do people quit church?

Here in the UK we have seen millions of ex churchgoers leave our churches. I understand why but I would want to say that what church might mean isn't locked into Christendom models. I take it as a given that 'fresh expressions of church' will emerge after Christendom. That church will slow down and rediscover evangelism as peaceable good news. In the whole world of God’s creation are only two Churches, the TRUE Church and the FALSE Church and nothing in between.
The true Church is the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the creator of heaven and earth.
The false Church is the Church of Satan who is the god of this world (2 Cor.4:4).
The Lord Jesus said, that He will build His Church and the Gates of Hades will not prevail against it (Mat.16:18).
And the Church of Satan is built by anyone who wants to build a Church.
The Antichrist the Pope builds his own Church (the Catholic Church), then Reverend humble builds his own Church and denomination. Pastor wonderful builds his Church and promotes his name to the top of the list, and then of course Pastor Turbo- Super-Power, he builds many Churches and Mega-Churches, his greatness is soooo great that he needs a private jet and a helicopter to preach his sermons in every Church and the list goes on and on, (men with an un-crucified lust for power, money and greatness).
Any one of those Churches we can join or leave at will and it doesn’t make a big difference either way.
But the TRUE Church, the Church of Jesus Christ nobody can join, yes! It impossible to join His Church and neither can you see it, because the walls are so wide you can’t get around, and so high you can’t get over it and the foundation is so deep that you can’t get under it.
Anyone who wants to be in His Church must be born again into His Church by a new birth and that is not by the will of a man or the will of the flesh but only by the will of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:3-8).
It happens just as the wind, nobody knows where it comes from and where it goes, you suddenly are in His Church, as you open your eyes you can see for the first time in your new life. Before you were blind but now you can see and certainly you can see the majesty and the beauty of the Church of Jesus Christ the LORD.
His Church is just like a bride spotless and without wrinkle, dressed in pure white who loves her bridegroom with all her heart, mind soul and strength etc.
The Church of the Lord Jesus is where the believers have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from ALL our sins.
Come and see for yourselves, you surely will not be disappointed!

By the way; True believers do not go to Church, they are the Church! There is a big difference.

Paul G. if as you claim Jesus is the one true almighty God of creation, Can you please explain what "the other Paul" was talking about in Cor. 15. It seems to me that Paul shoots down both your "doctrine" and the "Trinity doctrine" with one "big bang".
1Cr 15:24 Then [cometh] the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Cr 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Cr 15:26 The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death.
1Cr 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under [him, it is] manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
1Cr 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
Seems to me Paul, who claims to have seen and talked to Jesus, said there is one who remained , even over Jesus.
I go to church because I need God's people.
... and they need me. :)
Church can and should be a great thing. I absolutely love attending church. One thing I truly yearn for in my life is helping others find and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. When attending church, it is a most wonderful feeling for me to see people who love and know Jesus. It gives me an even higher high to know that I am in surrounded by people who seek His presence.
Some will ask about those who attend church just to save face with fellow community members, to appear as a Christian. I deeply believe that the number of true Jesus seekers greatly outnumber those who are not there for the right reasons, serving and worshipping God.
I do know that only being an advent church-goer will not grant you a place in God's most holy presence for eternity, Heaven. As much as I would encourage all to go to church and do so with a mind-set full of excitement and intrigue, I do not think that one who is not a regular church-goer is condemned to Hell. Although, attending regularly will help you walk a Christian life, keeping His word ever present in your mind.
Above all, please seek God's word. Learn for yourself who Jesus Christ is, and you will soon know the love that He has for you. Through faith in Christ, we are saved!

Yes Laymond, Jesus Christ is the only one and true God the Almighty, the creator of heaven and earth and everything in it and nothing came into being apart from Him (John 1:1-3) and (1 John 5:20) and (Jude 8:25), and most important, that there is NO OTHER person, spirit or identity who is also in God.
If you transgress on that, then you have no inheritance in Gods economy and your religion profits you nothing.
Now, "the other Paul" as you have said, is speaking exactly the same thing as I, because the same Spirit (the Holy Spirit) which spoke through "the other Paul" is speaking through me (2 Cor.13:3).
So then; it is not Paul or I who is calling you but the Lord Jesus who is calling all men to Himself.
It is of great importance for you and everyone to receive the Holy Spirit. If you have not received the Holy Spirit, then you do NOT belong to the Lord Jesus and you are in desperate need to receive Him (Rom.8:9) + (Gal.4:6).
Paul went to those who believed in the Lord Jesus and said "have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?" then he laid on his hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit ( Acts 19:1-7 ).
Laymond; if you have decided to believe in the Lord Jesus and have no one to lay hands on you, then you can ask the Lord Jesus Himself. (Mat.7:11) He said, "If you fathers being evil know how to give your children good gifts, how much more your Father who is in heaven will give you the Holy Spirit if you ask."
1 Cor. 15:34-28 I surely understand and can explain all those passages, but I need a few pages to do so, since they are not easily understood, because most people and even the scholars read those passages from a wrong premise and end up with wrong conclusions.

Paul it is not like we have no history of the birth of Jesus, If Jesus is the real god, who is his papa.spoken of here.
Mat 1:18 ¶ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Paul as far as I know, there is no version of the bible which mentions "the holy ghost" in Matt 7:11.
Mat 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Paul let's look at what the bible says the holy ghost is,or was , it no longer exists because it is not needed.
Act 8:17 Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
Act 8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
Act 8:19 Saying, Give me also this "power", that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. (power)
Act 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that "the gift of God" may be purchased with money.
(the gift of God) not a person equal to god.
Both Peter and, a certain man, called Simon , said the holy ghost was power, a gift from God.
I could go on with many scriptures that blow your doctrine, and the trinity doctrine out of the water. doctrines of man just can't stand up to scripture.
